Assigning fault in an auto, motorcycle, truck, or car accident, can often be a challenging task. All drivers have the responsibility to operate their vehicle with the utmost care and caution. A recent article reported that a motorcycle accident in St. Louis took place in front of Oakville High School; fortunately, no students were injured. However, the cyclist suffered serious injuries but was said to be in stable condition at the hospital where he is receiving treatment. According to officials, the motorcyclist was apparently speeding and passing vehicles along the shoulder right before he collided with a pick-up truck, which was making a legal turn. No one in the truck suffered injury. It has not yet been determined whether or not the motorcyclist will face charges.

Many motorcycle accidents are caused by drivers other than the cyclist, mainly due to car and truck drivers not always checking their blind spots or rear view mirrors before changing lanes or merging. In the event that a motorcyclist suffers injuries as a direct result of another driver’s negligence, he or she may be able to seek compensation for pain and suffering, medical treatment, and other expenses associated with the injury.
