Curves can be particularly dangerous for motorcyclists. If a sharp curve is taken too quickly, it is easy to lose control of a motorcycle because of the motorcycle’s two-wheeled design. In 2009, motorcycle accidents on curved roads in Missouri accounted for nearly 50% of all motorcycle crash fatalities even though less than 30% of motorcycle crashes occurred on curved roads.
